A true soldier of Jesus Christ- from Maggie Thomas (Margaret Chatterton)

Created by Margaret 2 years ago
I was a young girl. I belonged to the Salvation Army in Whitchurch. My dad, Martin Chatterton was the Young Peoples Sargeant Major. Brian was a young teenager and was stamping the Star Card with my Attendance Star, as was the custom. Corps Sargeant Major Ted Green said something about a blessing, I did not know the meaning of blessing, so Ted Green asked Brian Sharp to explain. Without any hesitancy he began to list things that were a blessing, I immediately understood what a blessing meant and have never forgotten that Sunday morning. What impressed me most, was that someone so young was so knowledgeable and confident in his faith, it truly impacted me. I enjoyed many Christmas parties, youth evenings and Sunday School Tea's where Brian and Heather made them such fun with their ability to minister to young people. I have held the 'lamp' for many Caroling sessions in cold and snow at Christmas, where Brian was the Band Master and led the band on these events. We had such fun, it always impressed me, how Brian could play so beautifully on the cornet with one hand, whilst conducting with his other. Such a fun, faithful and precious man, who in spite of difficulties, always remained strong and a blessing to be around. He has always been there in my life and I am now 71. I will miss him and the world was a better place for having Brian in it. I feel that if anyone should hear the words "well done thou good and faithful servant", it should be Brian Sharp. I hold his family up in prayer, for comfort and strength as they do life without this amazing man.
